About

OKS (Oksana Todorova (b.1972)) Lives and works in the East village, New York City. In 1993, OKS immigrated to New York from the USSR, now Ukraine, and has been a New Yorker since. Her multimedia practice stems from her childhood, as she was profoundly influenced by her father’s skillful trade in commercial sign painting. she has explored an extensive variety of mediums, including ceramics, pyrography, painting, jewelry, textiles, printmaking and illustration. In 1997 OKS assumed the role of being the right hand (wo)man for contemporary artist Tom sachs; in 2021 she stepped down to entirely concentrate on her own creative practice. OKS is the real deal— All of her work is produced by the artist herself. Her work explores themes of power, popular culture, sex, and female roles in modern society. With acerbic wit and a touch of class, she invites the daring and curious to experience how she filters the world.
